This exploration of the territory between theory and practice in contemporarytheatre features essays by academics from theatre and translation studies, and delineates a new space for the discussion of translation in the theatre thatis international, critical and scholarly, while rooted in experience and understanding of theatre practices. ROGER BAINES is head of the School of Language and Communication Studies at the University of East Anglia, UK. CRISTINA MARINETTI is Assistant Professor in Translation Studies at the University of Warwick, UK and associate editor of the translation journal 'Target'. Recent projects explore meeting grounds between translation and performance in multilingual, migrant theatres. MANUELA PERTEGHELLA is Senior Lecturer in Applied Translation at London Metropolitan University, UK.
