She has received National Science foundation funding for a handful of her groundbreaking projects melding education and chemistry. Known for her innovative teaching techniques, Basu-Dutt is a master at collaborative and cooperative learning, inquiry-based learning, integrativeteaching, and activities-based interdisciplinary approaches.
