Electrospray and MALDI mass spectrometry: fundamentals, instrumentation, practicalities, and biological applications
Cole, Richard B.
This book is an update of the first edition, which published in 1997. The field of electrospray mass spectrometry has evolved considerably since the first edition. Included among the many advances are an improved understanding of many fundamental aspects of the electrospray process, as well as the emergence ofnew fields (e.g., proteomics) that have directly benefited and flourished largely due to the use of electrospray mass spectrometry. The intention is to summarize in chapter form (each chapter being a mini-review) the most important aspects of electrospray mass spectrometry (fundamentals, instrumentation, and applications) with as little redundancy between chapters as possible.Richard B. Cole, PhD, is a University Research Professor in the Department ofChemistry at New Orlean University in New Orleans, Louisiana. His research interests are analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry and primarily involve the development of novel analytical methods employing ESI and MALDI. INDICE: Fundamentals of ES. Fundamentals of MALDI. ES and MALDI coupling to mass spectrometry instrumentation. Practical aspects of ES and MALDI. Biological applications of ES and MALDI. Index.
