Transporters as drug carriers: structure, function, substrates

This reference handbook systematically characterizes all known transporters which are involved in drug elimination and resistance. Human and mammalian transporters are covered first, followed by microbial, fungal and parasitic transporters. Special attention is given to transport across important physiologicalbarriers that are relevant for drug uptake, distribution and excretion. The present volume thus lays the foundations to understand and investigate the molecular mechanisms for multidrug resistance in cancer cells, microbial resistance to antibiotics and pharmacokinetics in general.
