Educational policies and inequalities in Europe

This book analyzes policies in eight European countries that aim to intervenein the reproduction of social and educational inequalities. In order to understand why some policies succeed and others fail, it is necessary to look at education systems through cross-national comparison. DAVID GREGERSenior Researcher at Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.He is interested in comparative education, particularly in the characteristics of education systems and policy interventions that may reduce the achievements gaps. He is author of 'Towards Educational Change: The Transformation of Educational Systems in Post-Communist Countries' (with Eliska Walterova). JEAN-YVES ROCHEX Professor of Education Sciences at the Paris 8 University in Saint-Denis, France. He has previously published 'Knowledge, Pedagogy and Society.
