
A detailed study of the work of web designers, drawing on empirical research carried out from the birth of web design as an area of work in the 1990s to its professionalisation in the twenty-first century. HELEN KENNEDY is Lecturer in New Media in the Institute of Communication Studies at the University of Leeds, UK. This is her first monograph, but she has contributed articles to journals such as 'Information Communication and Society 'and 'New Media and Society' and is co-editor of an essay collection 'Cyborg Lives? Women's Technobiographies '(York University: Raw Nerve Press, 2001). She has also worked as a web designer and taught web design.
