EABC was the Korean associate of the Economist Corporate Network 1994-2003 and now the Korean and Northeast Asian representative of Asian Expertise (AXP) and operates the Korea Peer Group Forum, which briefs locally-based MNC country managers on economic, political and commercial developments. EABC also publishes annual studies on the chaebol, the success factors for foreign firms in Korea, and the market for acquisitions. EABC was the first Western firm to establish an office inNorth Korea and helped structure a number of the first foreign business dealsin North Korea. Over the last twelve years Dr Michell has worked closely withthe Economist Intelligence Unit and the Economist Corporate Network on Roundtables with the Government of South Korea and on regional briefing programs in Japan, Taiwan and China. He is a much sort after speaker and regularly addresses business conferences in Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the USA, Europeand Australia. Prior to launching EABC in 1989, he was a director of Tetra Pak Korea (1987-89) and a consultant to the UNDP, the World Bank, and the South Korean Economic Planning Board.
