Efficient modeling and control of large-scale systems
Mohammadpour, Javad
Grigoriadis, Karolos M.
The complexity and dynamic order of controlled engineering systems is constantly increasing. Complex large scale systems (where 'large' reflects the system’s order and not necessarily its physical size) appear in many engineering fields, such as, micro-electromechanics, manufacturing, aerospace, civil engineering and power engineering. Modeling of these systems often result in very high-order models imposing great challenges to the analysis, design and control problems. Efficient modeling and control of large-scale systems will compile state-of-the-art contributions on recent novel analytical and computational methods for addressing the model reduction, performance analysis and feedback control design for such systems. Also addressed will be new theoretical developments, novel computational approaches and illustrative applications to various fields. Covers state-of-the-art analytical and computational approaches for modeling/identification, performance analysis and control design of complex high-order systems Interdisciplinary focus emphasizing methods and approaches that can be commonly applied in various engineering fields Applications in various fields are examined including micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), manufacturing processes, power networks, traffic control INDICE: An introduction to large-scale systems: challenges in modeling andcontrol.- Subspace identification of a class of large-scale systems.- A survey of modeling and order reduction methods for large-scale systems.- Model predictive control for large scale systems.- An integrated design method for optimization and control of structural systems using linear matrix inequalities.- Hierarchical control distribution approaches for large scale over actuated systems.- Multi-agent control of large scale hybrid systems.- Decentralized model reference adaptive controller for large-scale systems.- Structural analysis oflarge-scale systems for distributed estimation and control applications.- Model predictive control of large-scale systems including fault tolerance capabilities.- Distributed adaptive architectures and self-organization for large-scale microsystems.- Optimization and control of tensegrity structures.- Modelling and open-loop/closed-loop control of thermal MEMS devices.- Large scale control of highway traffic systems.- Power Networks distributed control.
