This volume analyzes up-to-date research about runaway and homeless youth based on the results from the national Missing Persons Project (MPP). This book offers new insights about the social and behavioral profiles of runaway and homeless children and adolescents when they go missing and live on the streets. It assesses and uses child development theories to describe why children and adolescents runaway and become victimized. This work also focuses on the ways in which families, the schools, social services agencies, juvenile detention facilities, foster homes, and the courts respond to runaway and homeless youth. Legal and policy initiatives also are presented.?
