This book contributes to scholarship on labour rights and resistance in Vietnam by captivating the values underpinning workers’ perspectives, voices, and actions. It traces how these values are shaped by language and practices of labour law, socialist ideology, and widely held norms within Vietnamese society. It shows that despite the relative decline of factory strikes in recent years, Vietnamese workers’ struggle for workplace justice is on-going, at times enabled and stifled by the legal and political systems that are supposed to protect their rights and benefits.
This book will be of interest to scholars of law, politics and society, and scholars, students and practitioners interested in labour rights in developing countries.
