The DVB-H Handbook describes the principles and details of the DVB-H system, giving a complete picture about the background, functioning, planning and optimisation of the system. It presents an overview of all aspects of the DVB-H system for the delivery of mobile TV services, with a particular emphasis on thetechnical aspects of implementing the system. The first section of the book gives a general overview, including the network layout, standardisation, and business models. It then moves onto more advanced topics, focusing on the technical functioning of the system. Subjects such as signaling, coding, different modes for channel delivery and protection in core and radio system are explained in detail. Finally, the book examines the in-depth planning of the core and radio networks. It spans the field from physical network planning (cell-size, antenna heights etc.) over the underlying DVB-H physical and link layer specifications up to application ingredients such as EPGs and audiovisual streaming technologies.
