Whilst revising for medical finals the authors became aware of the lack of comprehensive revision books comprising the types of short answer questions (SAQs) used by many medical schools to assess their students. Having only recentlyfinished their own final examinations they are in a prime position to be ableto write a useful book to help other students through the trauma of their ownfinals and prepare them for work on the wards. This will be a comprehensive question book covering medicine, surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology. Each section will comprise a minimum of ten questions of the style commonly seen in short answer questions finals papers. Questions will begin with ashort case scenario from which questions will be taken. A brief explanatory note will be included for each answer.
