This book lays out the P21 Framework--a collective vision for 21st century learning that can be used to strengthen education. It will serve as a practical guide to the development and deployment of these skills and how it will changeteaching and learning--outlining the actions that all education stakeholders can take to make 21st century learning a reality for children worldwide. 21st Century content includes the basic core subjects of reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic, but also places a greater emphasis on building understanding about global, health, economic/business, civic and technological literacy issues. 21st Century skills fall into three categories: Learning and Innovation Skills: Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, and Communication and Collaboration Information, Media, and Technology Skills: Information Literacy, Media Literacy, and ICT Literacy Life and Career Skills: Flexibility and Adaptability, Initiative and Self-Direction, Social and Cross-Cultural Skills, Productivity and Accountability, Leadership and Responsibility. Classroom vignettes, global examples, and schoolwork samples help illustrate the framework and provide an exciting view of what 21st century teaching and learning canand should look like. An appendix contains useful information on curriculum, skills development, technology support, etc. A bonus DVD offers short video clips of innovative classroom practice.
