This volume undertakes a fundamental reassessment of utopianism during the modernist period. It charts the rich spectrum of literary utopian projects between 1885 and 1945, and reconstructs their cultural work by locating them in thematerial 'spaces' in which they originated. The book brings together work by leading academics and younger scholars. ROSALYN GREGORY is completing the final parts of her doctoral thesis at the University of Oxford, UK. She is a non-stipendiary lecturer at St Anne's College. BENJAMIN KOHLMANN Assistant Professor at the University of Freiburg, Germany, having earned a doctorate from the University of Oxford, UK. His articles, covering various aspects of modernist literature and culture, are publishedor forthcoming in ELH, MLN, RES and other journals. He is completing a monograph on the politicized modernism of the 1930s.
