Managing supply chain risk and vulnerability: tools and methods for supply chain decision makers
Wu, T.
Blackhurst, J.
A supply chain can be defined as a network of firms that work together to convert and move goods from the raw material stage to the end user. Effective supply chain management is a critical component of a company’s ability to fill consumer demand, regardless of the industry. In fact, some scholars argue that survival in the modern business environment is no longer an issue of one firm competing against another firm but has, instead, become an issue of one supply chain competing against another supply chain. Supply chain disruptions are unplanned and unanticipated events that disrupt the normal flow of goods and materials within a supply chain and, as a consequence, expose firms within the supply chain to operational and financial risks. Because a supply chain disruption can potentially be so harmful and costly, there has been a recent surge in interest – from academics and practitioners alike – regarding supply chain disruptions and related issues. Presents topics on the assessment, modelling and monitoring of supply chain risk INDICE: 1. Effective Management of Supply Chains: Risks and Performance.- 2.
