Mechanical vibration or rotation of a target or structures on the target may induce additional frequency modulations on the returned radar signal which generate sidebands about the targets Doppler frequency, called the micro-Doppler effect. Micro-Doppler signatures enable useful properties of the target to be identified. Micro-Doppler Characteristics of Radar Targets is a monograph about radar target's micro-Doppler effect theory and micro-Doppler feature extraction techniques. The micro-Doppler effect is presented from two aspects: micro-Doppler effect analysis and micro-Doppler feature extraction. The micro-Doppler effects induced by different micro-motional targets in different radar systems are analyzed. Several methods of micro-Doppler feature extraction and three-dimensional micro-motion feature reconstruction are presented. The main contents of this book include: micro-Doppler effect in narrowband radar, micro-Doppler effect in wideband radar, micro-Doppler effect in bistatic radar, micro-Doppler feature analysis and extraction, three-dimensional micro-motion feature reconstruction, etc. This book can be used as reference for scientific and technical staffs engaged in radar signal processing, automatic target recognition, etc. Especially, it is suitable for beginners who are taking research attention on micro-Doppler effect in radar. Provides new views on micro-Doppler effects, analyzing and discussing micro-Doppler effect in wideband radar, rather than focuses on the narrowband radarPresents several new methods for micro-Doppler feature extraction, which are very helpful and practical for readersProposes the concept of three-dimensional micro-Doppler effect fragmentary. The readers can get an integrated explanation about this idea in the bookIncludes practical cases and align with main MATLAB codes of each chapter with detailed program annotations INDICE: Chapter 1: PrefaceChapter 2: micro-Doppler effect in narrowband radarChapter 3: micro-Doppler effect in wideband radarChapter 4: micro-Doppler effect in bistatic radarChapter 5: micro-Doppler feature analysis and extractionChapter 6: Three-dimensional micro-motion feature reconstructionChapter 7: Review and prospects
